Galax claims first VHSL Class 1 State Championship with 57–39 win over Luray

By Jessica Blevins RICHMOND, Va. — When the final buzzer sounded inside the VCU Siegel Center on Friday evening, Galax’s girls basketball team had something the program had never held before — a state championship. The Maroon Tide delivered a dominant performance in the VHSL Class 1 state championship game, defeating Luray 57–39 to capture the first state title in program history.
