Galax freshman named Player of the Year

The Virginia High School League announces its 2026 Class 1 all-state girls basketball team. Galax freshman forward is the Class 1 Player of the Year. Galax head coach, Patrick Puckett, is the Class 1 Coach of the Year—2026 Class 1 Girls All-State Team. Only a freshman, the 5-foot,11-inch Hawks averaged 20.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.0 assists per game, while leading the Maroon Tide to the state finals and a 57-39 win over the Luray Bulldogs at the VCU Siegel Center.
