Ward Wins Two State Titles, Finishes Fourth in Long Jump at Class 1 Indoor Championships

By Jessica Blevins LYNCHBURG, Va. — Rural Retreat’s Trey Ward captured two individual state titles and added another top finish at the VHSL Class 1 Indoor Track and Field State Championships at the Liberty University Indoor Track Complex. Ward claimed the state championship in the 55-meter hurdles, winning the final in 6.60 seconds. He followed that performance by securing another title in the 300-meter dash, crossing the line first in 35.93 seconds. The Rural Retreat standout also placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 1¼ inches.
